Hire Professional Film Crew in Bali & Indonesia
Building a reliable film crew in a foreign country is one of the biggest challenges facing international productions. Language barriers, different working standards, unreliable references, and cultural misunderstandings can derail even the most well-planned shoot. At Bali Film Location, we maintain a vetted roster of over 150 English-speaking film professionals across every department — from award-winning directors of photography to experienced gaffers, sound engineers, production assistants, and specialized fixers who know every corner of the Indonesian archipelago.

Our Vetting Process
Every crew member in our roster undergoes a rigorous vetting process before being recommended to international productions. This includes verification of professional experience and credits, review of portfolio work and showreels, reference checks with previous international clients, English language proficiency assessment, insurance and liability verification, and a background check. We maintain ongoing quality feedback from every production that uses our crew, ensuring our recommendations continuously improve. Crew members who receive negative feedback are reviewed and may be removed from our active roster. This quality-first approach means you can trust every name we recommend.
Crew Rates & Packages
Indonesian crew rates are significantly more competitive than Western markets while maintaining high professional standards. A full camera crew (DP + operator + AC + gaffer + grip) can be assembled for $800-1,200/day compared to $3,000-5,000 in the US or Europe. We offer individual crew bookings and complete crew packages for productions of any size. All rates include local transport, basic meals on set, and our production coordination. For multi-week bookings, discounted weekly rates apply. We handle all crew contracts, insurance, and payroll — simplifying your production accounting and ensuring compliance with Indonesian labor regulations.
Specialized Crew Services
Beyond standard crew positions, we provide specialized services including underwater camera operators certified for reef and wreck diving, licensed drone pilots for aerial cinematography in controlled Indonesian airspace, Steadicam and gimbal operators for smooth tracking shots in Bali's challenging terrain, multilingual production translators for directing Indonesian talent, stunt coordinators and safety officers for action sequences, and cultural advisors who ensure your production respects local customs and protocols — especially important when filming at temples, ceremonies, or within traditional communities.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do your crew members speak English?
Yes. All crew in our international roster are English-speaking and most have worked with American, European, and Australian productions previously. For productions needing Indonesian language skills for directing local talent or negotiating with vendors, all our crew are bilingual.
How far in advance should I book crew?
We recommend booking key crew (DP, gaffer, sound mixer) at least 2-3 weeks in advance, especially during peak season (April-October). Production assistants and general crew can typically be arranged within 1 week. Rush bookings (48-72 hours) are possible but subject to availability.
Can you provide crew outside Bali?
Yes. We have crew networks across Indonesia, including dedicated teams in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Lombok, and Labuan Bajo. For remote locations like Raja Ampat or Komodo, we deploy Bali-based crew with travel arrangements included.
